John Byron
serves as an Associate Consultant – Strategic Planning
Specialist for BreitIdeas, Inc. Mr. Byron retired as a US
Navy Captain where he served in a variety of leadership
roles including duty in five submarines and a cruiser. He
commanded the submarine GUDGEON and served also as
Commanding Officer of Naval Ordinance Test Unit (NOTU) in
Cape Canaveral, Florida. John is a graduate of the
University of Washington and of The National War College,
also serving at the latter as a faculty member in the
Department of Military Strategy.
Following
his naval career, Mr. Byron served as Director of Strategic
Planning and Strategic Marketing for Johnson Controls World
Services, as well as a stint as Vice President and Acting
CEO of Semco Johnson Controls, a joint venture in São Paulo,
Brazil. As the author of over 80 articles & essays for
Navy’s professional journal, US Naval Institute Proceedings,
Mr. Byron has received multiple awards and recognition for
his literary contributions.
In addition
to professional activities, John is well known for his
commitment to his community. John was nominated for the
Florida Today Volunteer of the Year by United Way of
Brevard, where he serves as a board member and an at-large
member of the Executive Committee. He has also been honored
as the Space Coast Manager of the Year by the National
Management Association.
